Happy new year folks.... welcome to quarter 2 of the 21st century !!
Matchday 18 first and in a "12 days of Christmas stylee", alongside our leftover Turkey we were dished up "3 red cards.....2 goalless draws.....and a win for the mighty Wolves !!!"
Yes, Villa, Man Utd and Spurs saw themselves down to 10 "Lords a Leaping", which unfortunately at this level means only one thing............defeat, Villa losing 3-0 to Newcastle, Man Utd 2-0 to Wolves and Spurs 1-0 to Nuno's Nottingham Forest.
The Seagulls and The Bees finished goalless, as did The Cherries in their game against Crystal Palace and whilst we're on the subject of draws, The Toffee's held champions Man City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad.
The Cottagers of London Town (Fulham to be precise), headed up the road to Chelsea and Old King Cole (Palmer) did what he does in the 16th minute leaving Fulham chasing the game right until the 82nd minute when Harry Wilson bagged the equaliser, as the game looked set to finish all square Fulham knocked in the winner in the 95th minute, taking the 3 points and West London bragging rights.
The Hammers took a trip to the South Coast and took all 3 points back to East London courtesy of their 1-0 win against the hopeless Saints. Liverpool climbed another step in their pursuit for the championship this year with yet another convincing victory, this week The Foxes were the victims, 3-1 the final score and second place hopefuls Arsenal managed to hold off The Tractor Boys in their 1-0 victory.
A mixed bag of results in our comp, 4's and 5's for most, a couple of respectable 6 pointers, but to taste victory with your Christmas Pudding this week you needed 7 and 3 of you did exactly that, so huge, Christmas congratulations to Ally, Chris and Eddy, you are (were) our Christmas crackers, well done fellas !!!
