Good afternoon pickers,
Apologies for the delay getting these out to you, I spent most of yesterday hiding from Geordies.
Yes, the once mighty Wolves managed to lose yet again, this week it was The Toon Army taking 3 points off us, courtesy of their 2-1 win that we gifted them in the last 30mins of the game, a result that leaves us third from bottom with our one and only point...............on the positive side though, we're only 3 points behind Spurs LOL !!!
Newcastle's third win of the campaign, their best start to a season for a long time, puts them in 3rd place, equal with The Goonars and unbeaten City, both winning their respective games, City, 2-1 after going behind in the 22nd second to Brentford and Arsenal, winners of the first North London derby against aforementioned Spurs 1-0, even though the rest of the stats were most definitely in Spurs favour, unfortunately for them, not the one that counts........'one nil to the Arsenal', we hear them cry once more !!
Victory also this week for Chelsea, leaving it late in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth and the Villa over the hopeless Toffees who, for the second week in a row managed to throw away a 2-0 lead to lose the game 3-2. if you haven't seen it, take a look at Villa's third goal by Columbian Jhon Duran, an absolute belter and candidate for goal of the season for sure.
A few draws this week for x2 of the newly promoted teams, Leicester holding Palace to 2-2 away from home and The Tractor boys grabbing a well deserved point away to The Seagulls. Also, West Ham v Fulham ended 1-1, mainly as a result of Adama Traore doing what he does best, everything but scoring a goal.
'WHAT ABOUT THE RED MEN' I hear you cry........., never 'walking alone' and all that nonsense.............well, would you Adam & Eve it, they only went and lost......at home, yes 'the fortress of Anfield'..........and to Nuno's Nottingham Forest !! As with Spurs, they won every other battle on the stats list, with over half the possession, almost 3 times the shots, but guess what.................1-0 to Forest, I've always liked Nottingham !!!
And finally, just as I have you red men on the hook, your fellow 'reds' and secret North East of England best friends Man Utd beat Southampton convincingly 3-0.
Enough of that nonsense, let's get the focus back onto our comp and kudos firstly to Mr Alex McMilan who was the only one to pick Forest's historic win over the bin dippers...............sorry, Liverpool. I'm guessing Alex may be a Man U fan???
Along with 7 others, Alex also bagged himself 7 points, which in a week with 3 draws and a Liverpool loss would normally get you on the podium, but not this week unfortunately folks, you were certainly close, but the proverbial cigar's this week are in the mouths of just 2 who managed to bag themselves 8 points a piece, those being Chris (of the Leggett variety) and our Megs, both only let down by The Seagulls and those bloody Scousers, well done the pair of you, we salute you, you are this week's champione's !!!!
Confirmation of the full leaderboard on the website, but here's a snapshot of the top 5. Callum still well ahead courtesy of his week 1 '20 pointer', but in close pursuit, usual suspects, Ennis, Bell, Shortall, not to mention, Megs, Ricki, Connor, Marcus and Dave. Keep up the good work folks !!

It's always scary (and a bit embarrassing) supporting Wolves.
Off to Marist Torny weekend in Wellington. Football, Beer and Mates.
Sterling to Arsenal? Haha. What a joker!
Thank god the internationals are over!
