7 weeks in and the cream is slowly rising to the top as we see Liverpool, City and Arsenal take all 3 points for the 4th week on the bounce.
Unfortunately (for them), 4th, 5th & last weeks 6th place teams Chelsea, Aston Villa & Newcastle only managed a lowly point a piece vs respective opponents Notts Forest (1-1), Man Utd (0-0) and a resurgent Eveton (0-0) who to be fair, should have taken all 3 were it not for a shocking decision at the death.........definitely a penalty ref, as Mr Dyche concurred !!
Yes, we saw Liverpool take a 9th minute lead at Selhurst Park courtesy of Diogo Jota and that's exactly how it finished 1-0, both City and Arsenal stuck 3 in the back of the onion bag against Fulham and Southampton.
The City game provided us with one of the most beautiful things you will see in world football and I'm not talking about any of the City players, I am of course referring to the magnificent Adama Traore in full flight, absolutely destroying (the not exactly slow) Kyle Walker in a straight out foot race, after which Adama did what Adama does and kicked the ball straight at the goalie.....still a sight to behold, 'we love you Adama' !!!
Now, 3 goals would usually get you a win in this league, but not if you're Wolves of course, the team everybody beats, this week it was Brentford who had the pleasure taking all of 1min 30 seconds to get the first (slow by their usual standards) and in a ding-dong battle no doubt fantastic entertainment for the neutral, ended with Wanderers unsurprising demise, final score 5-3.
West Ham also started early with a goal in the first minute, only to be answered 6 minutes later by newly promoted, draw specialist and Ed Sheeran's favourites Ipswich Town, however, The Hammers kicked on with x3 more and a convincing 4-1 victory. The remaining new boys or 'new Foxes' Leicester City, grabbed all 3 points in their home fixture against The Cherries of Bournemouth, taking them into a very respectable 15h place.
Finally, it was all looking good for Ange's men at half time, 2-0 up away from home against Brighton and Hove Albion, but when you've got both Brighton and Hove up against you, I guess there can only be one outcome and by the 66th minute, it was all over rover for the (once) mighty Spurs, who finish the weekend in joint 11th place on 10 points.
As far as our comp goes, I don't know if Noodle and Richie are Spurs fans, but to predict the Chelsea v Notts Forest draw is worth a mention, also Richie's Brighton win prediction was a cracker and ultimately the result that gave him the edge over the rest of us this week, so please join me in rapturous applause and congratulations, as with 7 points this week, Mr Richie Nielson you are this weeks winner.........shot bro !!
Callum maintains his lead at the top with a round 50 points, but just 9 points behind him, following a steady few weeks, is the dark horse himself Mr Dave Goacher in 2nd on 41 points, after which there are pretty much shit loads of you on 40, 39 & 38 respectively.
