Normal service resumed it seems as with matchweek 9 complete, we see no other than Man City back on their perch, atop of the premier league and if that wasn't enough, they are also the proud employer of the worlds best player it seems, as Rodri takes out the Ballon d'or, well deserved too in my opinion.
Yes, the tinkle of points being dropped was heard throughout many of the top 6 or 7 teams bar a couple as Arsenal and Liverpool took a point a piece out of their 2-2 draw, Wolves left it late to prevent Brighton going into 3rd place as they also took a point following their 2-2 draw.
Champions League no hopers Villa had their eyes on a possible 3rd place spot too but unfortunately for them, allowed The Cherries of Bournemouth to equalise in the 96th minute, final score 1-1............I do love a cherry !
Chelsea took up 5th spot in the table courtesy of their 2-1 win over The Toon and just one point behind, Nuno's Nottingham Forest end the weekend sitting pretty in 7th place following their 3-1 win in East Midlands derby game against The Foxes, with that man Chris Woods grabbing a brace, leaving him the second best scorer so far this season, behind some dude from Norway (or is it Finland?!).
The Bees and The Tractor Boys (otherwise known as Brentford and Ipswich) played out a 4-3 cracker, all square at 86 minutes, but Bryan Mbueno popped up with his second of the game in the 96th minute to keep The Bees buzzing.
The Toffees came back from 1-0 down late on as well, equalising against Fulham in the 94th minute to take another point which elevated them 5 points clear of the bottom 3.
Finally, two teams most of us backed this weekend, only to be let down once again, the once mighty Man Utd and Spurs, the later beat 1-0 by Crystal Palace and The Red Devils taken down by an extremely dubious penalty, which not only gave West Ham the 2-1 win, but also cost Erik ten Hag his job as head coach....................bye bye Erik, it's been a pleasure for most of us, you will be missed !!
With all these crazy results, (not to mention all the bloody draws), it was never going to be a big scoring week, but hats off to Doug, Liam C and Leon who bagged extremely impressive 6 pointers, courtesy of successfully prediction a couple of those draws each, but taking out top spot this week, not only nailing x2 draws, but also the Palace win over Spurs, please stand and join me in rapturous applause for this weeks championne Alex...........well done mate, showing the boys how it's done, lovely work !!
Leaderboard will be updated shortly and available for all to see on the website, use any of the links from previous weeks to get there, or this one if you like and a reminder to all, keep an eye out for the kick off day/time, as much as I'll always try to send out reminders, every now and again I find something else to do and don't manage it and I never like to see any of you miss out on points !!
